BMSD 2026 Begins: 48 BGMI Teams, ₹1 Crore Prize Pool

KRAFTON India has officially kicked off the BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA SHOWDOWN (BMSD) 2026, and this year the scale is properly big. 48 of India's top BGMI teams are in the mix for an invite-only tournament with a ₹1 crore prize pool on the line.

How BMSD 2026 Works

The action started on September 22 with the Promotion & Relegation stage and runs for nearly a month, wrapping up with the LAN Grand Finals from October 16-18 at the Savaaya Convention in Hyderabad.

Unlike open qualifier events, every team here earned its spot through competitive performance across the KIE Leaderboard, BGIS and BMPS. That makes this one of the strongest fields Indian BGMI esports has seen.

KRAFTON has also doubled the invited teams from 24 in 2025 to 48 in 2026, so the stakes are higher at every stage.

Orangutan Return To Defend The Title

Defending champions Orangutan are back in Hyderabad looking to retain the crown they won at the tournament's debut edition. Standing in their way are some of India's biggest orgs:

• GodLike Esports, winners of BMPS 2026
• Team Soul, the reigning BGIS 2026 champions
• Nebula Esports, fresh off their BGMI Masters Series Season 5 victory

A Route To The World Stage

The ₹1 crore prize pool is the headline number, with the champions taking home ₹30 lakh. But BMSD 2026 is also a gateway to international competition.

The top six teams from the tournament will qualify for the BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA INTERNATIONAL CUP (BMIC) 2026, where they'll face squads from Japan and South Korea. Strong performances there could lead to qualification for the GLOBAL CHAMPIONSHIP 2026, giving Indian teams a direct path to the world stage.
